Critter Board PCB Design Files Released !!!
We are releasing all PCB schematic and layout files, including Gerber files for everything in the Critter Boards category. All designs are done in Cadsoft's Eagle layout program -- a free version of this program is available. This good news comes with some bad. For a variety of reasons we will no longer be selling small quantities of Critter Board development tools. This is unfortunate, but to keep support for those interested in building self-contained music/video instruments, we've decided to open up everything.
Painted Pocket Organ
This hand painted, battery powered cigar-box organ is small enough to take anywhere! Features a one octave keyboard, plus register button (shifts note up one octave). Controls for volume, modulation, harmonicity and tuning. The tuning knob adjusts the base frequency of the keyboard, from really low (below 20Hz) to really high. Big speaker for a full sound, and 1/4" line output jack. Here are some sound examples:

Dearraindrop's Video Organ was among some other instruments at the NIME conference in New York last week to feature Critter and Guitari electronics. The video intercoms, TV boxes, and color wheels also made an appearance.

Cigar Box Sampler -- Sound Recording Tutorial
A tutorial on recording sound with the Critter Board. The cigar box sampler uses a Critter Board with flash card socket to record up to 30 seconds of sounds onto flash cards from a line input or microphone. The sound can be played back using the three knobs on the bottom to control loop points and speed.
Pink Prairie Guitar
A new sampling instrument using the Critter Board. Any sound stored on flash cards may be plugged into the guitar during play time. Here is a demo video.
