critters was really the project that started the Critter Board. In this project multiple boards are connected together to form a network. They communicate by passing small packets of data. Each Critter Board is connected to its own speaker.
Each board is programmed with a bahavior that dictates how it responds to messages. When multiple boards are connected together with feedback, complex interactions start to occur. Behaviors based on many different phenomena may be used, such as L-systems, an improvisor's reaction, cellular automata, or evolutionary systems.
